Managed to Find My Way Back in to this Blog...

Lots of things have happened since last I visited this place.

Been in a play called "Cannibalism Begins at Home"  by Stephen Santer which was great fun and brought the house down on the evening we performed it at the Acorn Theatre in Penzance.  Hoping to perform it again soon in some little villages round Penwith. :)

Been swimming in the Cornish Seas with all this glorious weather and painting on small canvasses.

Now I have an Exhibition in St Ives!!  I haven't really done a lot of painting this year, got a couple of small canvasses.  I will add the new paintings here soon.

The Exhibition is on now from 1st August to 31st August 2013 at St Ives Library Community Room - hope you can come and see me hung!

I shall revisit this place before too long with a few more photies and comments on the Exhibition, bye for now

Finally got back onto this Blog....

Unbelievably it is now 13 years later!  I can only say that my life has utterly changed since I last wrote anything in this Blog.  Mainly sad things like losing my dear Mum and Dad, my soul mate Barry, lovely friends Ronnie and Danny and quite a few more.  Life has been quite sad and very lonely at times and I now want to get back to creating a little happiness for a change.  I thought I would never see this old Blog again but  am going to try and add more paintings and cards to it. I am going to try and paint again. I've joined a couple of art groups SASA and Tamsin Dearing near St Austell as I live in Carlyon Bay now and needed to meet some similar souls.

Here's to a new beginning!  Cheers!  Purdy my beautiful cat is still here with me I am very happy to say.

I'll start adding pictures and paintings again soon.

Branches of Blossom

I couldn't sleep so got up early whilst staying at Mum and Dad's and went out into the garden, looking up through a tree,  a storm was brewing, it was very warm and the sky was a beautiful meringue pink with tiny clouds of gold, mauve and grey. 

A Rock Pool

I painted this  with water colour crayon on Acrylic Paper and made it my mum's birthday card.  I went to a Laura Knight exhibition in Penlee House, Penlee Park and copied this from a photo on one of the leaflets.  Bit of plegarism there..I'm sure Laura won't mind :) 



Well, I have been a busy bee

Even though I say it myself.  I have done very well! Completed five paintings in four days more or less.  I know this one is very similar to my previous Morlaix yachts, but that little painting went to Chekoslovakia months ago, so I've painted it afresh.  

Going back to my favourite Blossom scene.  People call me Blossom these days.  I thought I would incorporate a yacht with my blossoms this time.

Actually, this is the same painting that I did last week, only I've extended the coastline and improved the water.

So, you see, it is my set of three.

Finally, this was the first Acrylic painting I ever did, but it wasn't very great, so I changed it today to the view of a Cornish Cove from the cliff top.  Barry and I went to Lamorna yesterday and walked over the cliffs.  There was a glut of foxgloves.  Absolutely stunning.  Anyway, it inspired me to do this........it looks better in real life than in this photo.



I'm going to hang some paintings in Fowey library this week and these ones will be included. :)

Fowey is my fourth library, I've exhibited at Penzance, St Agnes, Camborne (still on) and now Fowey.  In September I will exhibit at St Austell Library for a month or so and then next year, 2013, I will exhibit at St Ives Library!  good one.

YACHTS AT MOUNTS BAY

As I have five days off now, I have begun to do a set of boats, a set of trees and a set of blossoms to take over to Fowey Libary and hopefully there will be some interest from passing holiday makers.  This painting is quite cute I think, possibly attractive to holiday makers.  I like it anyway. It's 10" x 12" Acrylic on Canvas, painted it last weekend.

I was reasonably creative at Easter and created these cards. Acrylic on Canvas.  The main picture is the front of the card and the smaller one is on the back.

Oak Trees in Lavender

I've done quite a few paintings lately but forgotten to photograph them before I get rid of them.  Silly really.  Anyway, I've just completed this little painting today and I'm quite pleased with it.  Oak trees standing in lavender fields in South of France.  It's 10" x 12", Acrylic on canvas.  I like it.  Do you?

Blossom over Lake in Kent

St Michael's Through the Hawthorn Trees

Got round to painting again at the end of January and this is what I came up with.  I'm very pleased with it. It's my favourite one of St Michael's Mount so far. It's  12" x 9" Acrylic on Canvas.

Next, I decided to "blossom up" my blackberries by the sea painting which turned into this:-

I think it's quite pretty although I may change the sea a little.  It's 12" x 10", Acrylic on Canvas.

I found a lovely photo of blossom trees in Kent, so at the moment I'm working on that.

My library exhibiton seems to be reasonably popular.  I've sold my Dutch Elms to somebody I know, so at least I will be able to see them again if I want to, hopefully....

Too Busy to Paint

I've done no painting at all yet this year. been too busy working and going to the class and hanging the paintings......

The Penzance Library Exhibition has been hung now though and it's very exciting receiving comments from people.  Nobody seems to put their comments on this blog though, or in the little Comments Book at the Library.  I suppose it's a bit of a  bindy first of all to put comments on the blog, if you haven't got a Google email address, it's very easy really though, once you've done it.  Never mind, I'm just glad quite a few people seem to be interested.....it's very exciting having my own exhibition...and receiving compliments....people are too kind.....I don't mind receiving constructive criticism though.....in fact I would appreciate it......

Anyway, I'll put some more pics on here soon and maybe hang them in the Library as well if I have time......

dutch elms in the snow

Here's my latest little one, it's 9" x 12"  Acrylic on canvas and I'm very pleased with it.  It's a place in Holland, photo taken by a dutch bloke which I found on Flickr.  The only thing is that the photo has come out square but the painting is oblong.  The photo, in my opinion doesn't do it justice (even though I say so myself...never mind, you'll just have to see for yourself and come to my exhibition at Penzance Library in January and February.  hee hee. :)

Christmas Twilight and White Sails

Christmas Twilight

It seems like ages since I've put anything on this blog.  I almost forgot how to make my way around it.

I felt like painting dusk, the colour of it, I love dusk in the winter, such gorgeous skies and the air smells of coke (coal), very peaceful.

I found a photo of two small cottages in the Yorkshire Dales and decided to paint them.  Actually, there were no windows in the photo as it was of the back of the cottages, so I painted them in.. artistic licence. I'm very pleased with the result.  It's Acrylic on Canvas 18" x 28"

The good news is I have an exhibition at Penzance Library from 5 Jauary 2012 until 29 February 2012!!  Quite a long time.  I've been busy getting paintings framed and looking for my water colours to mount as well as typing up indexes.

White Sails

This is a painting I did for Kate my sister in law as she lost her Mum a few weeks ago.
They both love sailing so I thought it was quite appropriate.  I copied the yacht from another photo that Barry took on the way back from Morlaix.

A blossom tree and two pretty yachts

After the exhibition, I took the rest of the week off, the weather was rubbish.  I was quite glad in a way because I did far more than if the sun had been shining.

This blossom tree is just another blossom tree.  I love painting blossoms.  I've added gold tints.  Can you see the three cats?

 

The yachts were photographed by Barry from his lugger on the way back from the Morlaix festival in the dawn mist, I thought they were beautiful.

Exhibition at Studio 61

The exhibition went well in the morning, had lots of visits from friends and my art school mates - see piccy below.  Unforrtunately something  occurred at my work so I had to go before the exhibition was over which was a shame.  Some of my friends turned up and I wasn't even there to greet them and show them around.  So sorry about that.  :(   Never mind, the paintings are there now and will be until 23 September, so I hope lots of people go and have a look.  See you soon, and thanks very much to all of you who turned up, twas lovely to see you xx

An Exhibition in Truro!

Hello, I haven't done much paiting just lately, although I did do one of the deep blue sea through laden balckberry bushes which is quite pretty but small.  I haven't had time to scan it on to here yet.  It's hanging at the exhibition though.  I'll take a picture of it and scan it on soon.

Yes, I'm quite excited!  There are seven of us exhibiting our wares,  painters, a sculptor, a jewellery maker and a textile artist.  The private viewing is on Monday betseen 11.00 and 14.00, and you are all welcome to come along although I expect it will be difficult for most people at that time  on a Monday.  Never mind, it's actually on until 23rd September, so I hope some will be able to manage it.  Maybe see you there!





A Feast of Snapdragons and Dahlias

I went to the farmers' market on Friday and treated myself to a bunch of dahlias, then I went on to another flower stall and the woman was selling gorgeous snapdragons in similar colours, so I bought them as well?  They inspired me so much that I painted this.....tis pretty.  Acrylic on canvas.  It's 13"x 17" and stands in a natural wood frame.

Porthcurno 2011

I went to Porthcurno ages ago, in March, it was a stunning day and the sea was like liquid Jade.  I took a photo and have now finally painted this image.  I found it really difficult to catch the white waves on the shore but think I've almost caught it.  I might put a seagull on the granite.

I decided to paint Porthcurno on canvas and this is the result.  Very similar to the Acrylic Paper version.  The measurements are 16" x12" x 1.5".  I'm quite pleased with it. 

Only Pink Shells!

I have just painted this image.  It’s of a little girl who loves pink collecting shells and other treasures at the beach,  She’s been at a wedding all day and now it’s time to have fun just before the sun begins to set!

Already half way through May!

It's been nearly two months since I entered anything into this little blog.  Shame.  Been quite busy though, went to Holland for a few days and took some days off when Chris, Jake and Kate came to stay at Easter...fantastic weather...Anyway, I've done a couple of paintings also and here they are.

Pascale's House

Pascale sent me a photo of her house to paint.  Twas quite difficult because of all the straight lines which I'm useless at doing.  Anyway, I'll post it off to Holland today where she lives in Amstelveen with her hubby Jonno and lovely daughter Alice. (I used to live nearby too, still got a flat there actually).....hope she likes it.

Hollyhock Heaven (2)

Hollyhock Heaven (1) proved so successful (I sold it to a lady in Portugal!) I thought I would paint another very similar one.  Actually, I don't think it's quite a s cute as the first one, so might change it a bit.  I did change the little characters.  In (1) I have an old man playing ball with this dog.  In this one I've painted two children playing ball with their Mum standing in the doorway of the house.


Wedding Card

Quite a few friends and people I know have had weddings or are planning to have weddings at the moment.  Seems the "in" thing to do doesn't it?   I decided to paint this romantic picture.  I've also added the tiniest bit of glitter to the bride's headgear and the blossom.  I'm quite pleased with it.  Twill be placed in my cards section of this blog!
